Make-A-Wish
What they do
A wish experience can be a game-changer for a child with a critical illness. This one belief guides everything they do at Make-A-Wish. It inspires Make-A-Wish to grant life-changing wishes for children going through so much. It compels them to be creative in exceeding the expectations of every wish kid. It drives them to make our donated resources go as far as possible. Most of all, it's the founding principle of the vision of Make-A-Wish to grant the wish of every eligible child.
The mission of Make-A-Wish is this: Together, we create life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses.
How we’re helping
Riot has partnered with Make-A-Wish with our first wish in 2012. Since then, we have supported in various ways including providing swag to the annual Walk for Wishes fundraiser, donating gaming peripherals, and of course, granting wishes. These wishes have ranged from excursions to our headquarters to play games and hang out with our Rioters and pro-players, to traveling to our Worlds Championships and receiving a VIP experience.
In 2017, Bryan, a League player who visited Riot in through the Make-A-Wish Foundation, had a wish to "meet the creators of Riot Games and create a skin with them". This wish resulted in the creation of the Darkstar Cho'gath skin which raised over $6.1 million and was donated to 21 different nonprofits around the world.
