LA Food Bank
What they do
Los Angeles is home to one of the largest populations of any county in the nation. We’re also home to one of the largest accounts of hunger. An estimated 1.4 million people in Los Angeles County live with food insecurity, which means approximately 16% of the local people in LA do not know where their next meal is coming from.
The Los Angeles Regional Food Bank acquires food and grocery products and distributes them through their agency network and Food Bank programs to children, seniors, working families, and individuals facing hunger in the community. The Food Bank distributes more than one million pounds of food each week and serves more than 300,000 people each month.
How we’re helping
In 2020 as a part of Riot's COVID Relief efforts, we donated $200,000 to the Rams-ABC7 virtual telethon, raising funds for LA United Way and the LA Food Bank. These organizations were able to serve an additional 600,000 people over the course of a month with the money raise.
Additionally, Rioters and their families and friends have volunteered with the LA Food Bank every year since 2017 through our annual Global Service Month, packing meal boxes for the elderly and others in need. Riot has also provided expansion grants to the LA Food Bank to help them expand their reach and distribution across LA County.
