Global Head of LoL Esports

Chris Greeley

Chris is the Global Head of League of Legends Esports. He is responsible for overseeing the entire ecosystem across five competitive regions and 100+ countries. Ultimately, Chris is focused on ensuring that League of Legends esports continues to deliver bold moments and incredible competition for fans all over the world, and that League of Legends maintains its position as the number one esport in the world.

Prior to taking over as product lead, Chris spent two years as the Global Head of Strategy for League of Legends Esports. Before joining the global team, he was the head of Esports for North America and Oceania and the Commissioner of the League Championship Series (the LCS), the North American regional league for League of Legends. Prior to that, Chris was the global lead for League of Legends Esports Competitive Operations, providing guidance, policies and best practices to all of Riot’s regions. Chris ran Competitive Operations for Riot’s League of Legends international events, including the Mid-Season Invitational and World Championship.

As one of the primary architects of the LCS franchise model, Chris led the 2017 application process for participation in the LCS. The franchise model he helped develop was replicated as the blueprint for all other League of Legends partnership models (China, Europe, Korea and Brazil), as well as the base for the recently launched VALORANT partnership model.

Prior to joining Riot, Chris was a partner at the New York City law firm Herrick, Feinstein LLP. During his 12 plus years at Herrick, Chris concentrated in securities and commodities litigation, defending clients in civil lawsuits, investigations and actions conducted by regulatory agencies and exchanges. Chris also worked with Herrick’s art law group and sports law group, providing strategic advice on certain matters and litigating others. He helped start Herrick’s esports practice before leaving the firm to join Riot.
