Hi all, and happy new year!

We’re excited to announce that a new way to communicate with the Developer Relations team is now available! Third-party community members can contact us about our API through our new support site, regardless of whether they have an application or an account with us.

https://support-developer.riotgames.com/

We want to call out that this is NOT a replacement for the existing Developer Portal. You will still request, view, and manage API keys in our existing portal. Our documentation will continue to exist in both locations for the time being.

WHAT THIS MEANS FOR APP MESSAGING IN THE DEVELOPER PORTAL

App messages will remain available on the developer portal for application-specific discussions, but for faster response times, general questions, and new inquiries, we encourage you to submit a ticket on our support site.

Our goal with this new portal is to provide faster and more efficient communications with our community. When submitting a ticket via the support site, you’ll get email notifications when we respond. You can share images and hyperlinks with us (yay, HTML!), and you’ll be able to monitor the status of your tickets.

THAT’S COOL AND ALL, BUT WHY IS THIS NOT INTEGRATED INTO THE EXISTING DEVELOPER PORTAL?

API management, RSO applications, and the new support site are powered by different underlying services, which means they need to be separate - at least for now. We’re hard at work brainstorming the best way to provide you guys with a one-stop shop for all your API needs.

HOW DO I KNOW WHEN TO USE THE SUPPORT SITE VS APP MESSAGING?

Eventually, we’d like to get all inquiries moved over to the new support site. But for now, here are some general suggestions:

You can continue to use app messages for:

  • Rate limit increase requests

  • Questions/concerns about your specific application

  • Sending us more info for your production key application

For everything else, we encourage you to try using the new support site, including but definitely not limited to:

  • General questions about the API

  • Policy and IP questions

  • Reporting suspected violations

  • Reporting issues with the API or our portals*

  • API feature requests*

* We understand that our GitHub has been the primary source for reporting bugs and requesting new features. While you can continue to use this space, you can expect faster responses by using our support site.

We hope this breakdown helps clear up any confusion and that you guys find the new support site useful. We look forward to hearing from you soon!
