1500 Rioters. 280 projects. 48 hours. It’s a chance to fix something. It’s a great way to unlock creativity. Hell, it’s just plain fun. From sourcing player stats to an arcade machine makeover, here are just a few of the projects that Rioters around the world poured their efforts into during Thunderdome 2024. The idea behind this video is to shed some light on why we’ve decided to carve out the time for our take on your typical hackathon. Because at the end of the day, it’s not about shipping a bunch of stuff. It’s actually way more than that. As always, Thunderdome comes with a disclaimer: While a project from Thunderdome could maybe, possibly release in some way, shape, or form, they aren’t expected to ever materialize at all. That doesn’t mean never, because past Thunderdomes have absolutely led to things that players love. But, at the same time, it also could mean never. What we're saying is, none of the projects shown here should be taken too seriously. While we aren’t going to be able to share the specifics on every project worked on this year, just know that something you see in the coming years may very well have started from an idea born in the Thunderdome. And, if you ever visit our campus and play POP/STARS on our in-house dance machine, then you’ll know a team spent their 48 hours well.
