Developer Connections (DevCon) connects developers around the globe allowing them to ship games reliably and efficiently. We sit at the intersection of Game Studios, R&D, and Central Tech, allowing us to keep our fingers on the pulse of development across Riot. Our aim is to unblock teams so they can hit essential milestones for launching future games. The DevCon Service Deploy team is focused on providing deployment solutions for game teams and central teams that need to reliably ship their services worldwide. We work with these customer teams to understand their needs, and we work with infrastructure teams to ensure the right technology is available for us to craft end-to-end products that solve real problems in production.

As the Manager, Software Engineering for DevCon Service Deploy, your mission is to make delivering services to players seamless for developers.  To do this you’ll need to understand when and how to leverage cloud infrastructure and automation to turn chronically underserved tools and processes into first class offerings that unlock the full potential of your fellow creatives.  You are equally comfortable setting the vision for where your team is going and diving into the code to hit critical milestones. You’re an advocate for the unsung glue teams, the folks that often make the biggest impact by nailing the little details.

Responsibilities:

  • Own the product vision - you understand your customers and define product requirements to meet their needs
  • Drive positive outcomes  - you build healthy relationships with other engineering teams at Riot to foster cross-team collaboration and deliver solutions for your customers
  • Lead the engineering team - you manage one or more teams of software engineers, coaching them and holding them accountable to best practices and career growth, and you grow the team through hiring

Required Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of experience as a software engineer
  • 2+ years working in an engineering leadership position
  • Experience serving in a product ownership role
  • Proficient with Scrum/Agile development methodologies

Desired Qualifications:

  • Extensive knowledge of AWS
  • Experience shipping games
  • Entrepreneurial experience

For this role, you'll find success through craft expertise, a collaborative spirit, and decision-making that prioritizes the delight of players. We will be looking at your past studies, experience, and your personal relationship with games. If you embody player empathy and care about players' experiences, this could be your role!
