Senior Illustration Artist - League of Legends, Splash Illustration

Delivering visually stunning experiences for a global audience while also building new games gives artists exciting and complex problems to solve. Here, artists are working not only with one another, but also side-by-side with game designers, narrative writers, audio designers and engineers to ensure that each piece of content from Riot reaches the level of quality players deserve. From animations to illustrations, cinematics to comics, characters to environments, we work as a team to put players first.

As a Senior Illustration Artist for the League of Legends Splash Illustration team your craft expertise and eye for illustration will help deliver deep engagement and rich fantasy worlds to our players.  You will report to the Illustration Art Manager on the Splash team, and be a key member of your discipline community.  You will support the craft and execution across the whole splash team by collaborating with teammates and cultivating excellence.  You will produce high quality promotional splash illustrations, with an excellent eye for light, color, composition, dynamic anatomy, high-fidelity rendering and storytelling.  

Responsibilities

  • Consistent craft executor of high-quality 2D Splash Illustrations with little oversight
  • Assist the splash team in maintaining the bar for excellence
  • Sharing of craft expertise and knowledge through discipline community, mentorship and art collaboration
  • Participate in style guide creation, team rituals, and getting involved in consistent feedback

Required Qualifications

  • 6+ years of industry experience
  • Showcase ability to create high quality 2D Splash Illustrations
  • Excellent proficiency in art fundamentals, visual storytelling, anatomy, lighting, materials and color theory
  • Comfortable in Splash Style including character focused illustrations with stylized anatomy, heroic compositions and cinematic/realistic believability
  • Experience creating high end digital art assets in Adobe Photoshop
  • Experience with 2D Illustration asset creation pipelines

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience working in-house with creative teams
  • Experience owning and effectively communicating about projects and workflow
  • AAA Game Development experience
  • Familiarity with League of Legends Characters, IP Universes and Lore

  • (Los Angeles Only) Base salary range between $142,900.00 - $199,600.00 USD + incentive compensation + equity + 401K with company match + medical, dental, vision, and life insurance + short and long-term disability + open PTO.
